The band was born in the city of Rijeka in March, 2000. The members are: Mihael Prosen (singer), Davor Tomic - Pinky (guitar), Sasha Vukosav (drums), Fraño Jardas (bass guitar) and Dario Pazanin - Borut (guitar). With their prior work, the members of Father influenced the music making process in various Croatian bands. Along with over 50 shows in the unsigned phase all over Croatia, Slovenia, Bosnia and Hercegovina, Father’s big success was winning the qualifications for ROCK OTOCEC festival in 2003 where they competed with 182 bands. That year Father played on the main stage just before the mighty Apocalyptica. Later on Father also had a privillage to open s special Croatian concert from metal legends Anthrax, and the band almost won the world wide competition in which the award was a place on the USA Lollapalooza Festival. The band ended at 16th place in a race with over 600 bands from all over the world. The summer of 2005. saw the boys play the huge MTV festival in Zagreb, opening for the likes of The Hives and other huge international bands. A few months before, in the spring of 2005. the band signed a record deal with Dallas Records ( EMI / Virgin /V2 / Mute exclusive licence partner in Croatia ) and Mars Music Publishing ( EMI MP and Sony/ATV licence partner on the ex Yugoslavian territory ) in Croatia, with big hopes from all sides that this product has got a bright future outside of their home country. Critics began raving about debut album “Inspirita” as soon as it came out that fall , and first single and video for the track “Machina” were on heavy rotation on national radio and TV charts. MTV Adria played the video constantly and the band was featured on the channels edition of Headbangers Ball show! The second video for “Cynosure” got banned from a lot of TV stations who claimed it was too dark and disturbing for the viewers, so it ended up on the internet with huge amount of downloads. International press included features in British Metal Hammer, on the mighty Blabbermouth web site, numerous great reviews on the most of the important UK music webzines, and some great reviews in European metal magazines. The biggest show in Father’s career has happened in November 2005. in their home town of Rijeka, where around 1.300 fans showed up at club Tocka to enjoy the gig and celebrate the release of the debut record “Inspirita”. They also sold out the legendary Zagreb club Kset when 500 people packed the club ! Since then the band played the support role on The Sisters Of Mercy Slovenian show, as well as the fantastic gig at the mighty Exit festival in Serbia. The band is now fully concentrated on its third huge UK tour with the total amount of 14 shows rolling out in a 3 week period In July. The band has secured world wide subpublishing deal thru the worlds biggest publisher EMI, and is ready to take it’s music on the road for the most of this and next year. This year should see the band hit many of the European stages, a few more UK rounds of touring (with this one in July, there is also another one in October already confirmed), and the first ever visit to the US planned for early 2008. Debut album “Inspirita” will be realased this summer in the UK under the indie label Revol Records, the release date is 02.07. The band is also confirmed as very special guests on the KORN show in Zagreb on July 03.07.
